I'm a Certified Nutrition Consultant, Holistic Massage Therapist, prior manager of a Holistic Health Spa, project manager and event organiser, teacher and entrepreneur but above all else, a revert Muslimah with a love of all things simple and natural trying to live a healthier life for the sake of Allah and passionate about trying to help others do the same.
I spent a lot of my youth pre-Islam gallivanting the globe and experiencing new cultures and places and I have a deep love of travel and the beauty and wonder of nature. I love the smell of rain, orange blossoms and the feeling of beach sand and grass between my toes (and I'm a firm believer in the therapeutic benefit of all these wonderful things).
Above all else, when it comes to health, I believe that a holistic approach is essential and we always have to look at the whole. I'm blown away by functional medicine (it make SO much sense) and know that the food we eat and our lifestyle can have a massive impact on our health and wellness, and that of our families and generations to come. Every mouthful is a choice, alhamdullilah.
I also believe that food and nutrition is just the tip of the iceberg. To live and thrive as women, we have to take care more than just the food we eat - we have to care for ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually and that's what my entire philosophy is with Healthy Muslimah, the Healthy Muslimah Summit and Healthy Muslimah TV.
I also run the annual Get Ready for Ramadan course for sisters and the Kickstart Program for sisters, 10 Days to Eating More Natural Food the Way Allah Created It.
Oh yes, one last thing about me...I have decided to go back to university at the age of 38 (who says you can't go back to studying!) to pursue a degree in psychology (what I was saying above about the whole 'food being the tip of the iceberg' thing) - well, I want to learn more about why we do what we do for my own benefit, so that I can grow and develop, and in shaa Allah, so that I can share what I learn with YOU.
Watch this space for loads of beneficial information and please share the love, share the other and share Healthy Muslimah with friends and family!
